today take what you need
tomorrow give what you got
today we are young
summery and moonful
tomorrow
winter walks alone
today a garden
two tree squirrels and a place to chase
tomorrow
a vulture on my shoulder
today is a broken time machine
only knows how to now
tomorrow
we overclock are ancient hearts
today the pain is real
proof of existence
and we gather together
placebo memorial gazebo
and the birdbath in the middle
the water in the bowl seems somehow blessed
is the same rain that falls everywhere
cup your hands to catch some
and exist
today i drink the world drunk and wild
tomorrow only dust in my cup
A vivid ode to the passing of time.
ReplyDeletethank you kerfe, glad you enjoyed this
DeleteI think you describe the life how it is... especially the first couplet. We need to return what we have been given as young when we grow old... our knowledge and our money in one way or anothe.
ReplyDeletei like your your interpretation here bjorn, and i agree, at least that's the way it ought to be. thanks again bjorn
DeleteThis is gorgeous, Phillip. Especially this:
ReplyDelete“and we gather together

is the same rain that falls everywhere
cup your hands to catch some
and exist”

DeleteIt’s a photography/art web site. So awesome. Great for vibey inspiration and stimulation for ekphrasis. Just make an account and start “hearting” the stuff you like.

DeleteThis really resonates with me, especially:
ReplyDelete'the water in the bowl seems somehow blessed
is the same rain that falls everywhere
cup your hands to catch some
and exist'
We only ever have this moment, really, don't we?

DeleteThis is breathtakingly beautiful! I especially love; "and we gather together placebo memorial gazebo and the birdbath in the middle the water in the bowl seems somehow blessed is the same rain that falls everywhere cup your hands to catch some and exist."💝
ReplyDeletethank you sanaa, thank you liked this. and it seems the section is everybody's favorite, and i'll confess, i've been sitting on it for years trying to figure out how to use it, so i'm glad it finally worked out.
DeleteI'm late to comment. Sorry. I've read this several times. It's so evocative and it fills in all the blanks!! Bravo
